Run-on sentences confuse people since it does not have proper punctuation and conjunction. When we talk, we usually speak in run-ons, but with pauses others are able to understand. Unlike writing, no one can hear us speak. Putting too much ideas into a sentence can confuse readers. Run-on sentences depletes clarity and flow, therefore we should avoid run-on sentences.
Run on sentences can be considered as normal in an everyday conversation, but in essay writing, it is not. If too much information is in a sentence, it can often confuse the reader because he or she is not focusing on a certain detail, but many details. In my opinion, people often write run on sentences when they are cramming or rushing an essay. Therefore, people should take their time when writing their essay so they have fewer errors such as run on sentences. Another way to prevent from writing run on sentences is by having your essay peer reviewed multiple times.
Yes! Too many details can prevent the reader from focusing on the main detail. I also agree that the peer review process is a way that can prevent run ons. Just be sure that your partner doesn't get confused with "essay talk" and "real talk".
Many times, it is difficult to catch or detect a run on sentence. In the URL attachment it indicates that we speak in run on sentences, but we can decifer a change because of our tone and voice reactions about the topic. In writing, it may be hard to find only because we are reading it as if we are speaking, making it instinctive to think it is accurate. We should avoid these types of sentences in writings because it can make your topic unclear therefore making the reader confused.
Today's class was enjoyable. The way my classmates explained corrections within an essay was funny, but understandable. I like how we can include fun in our dicsussions. It only catches our interests and attention more.
Run on sentences are sentences that continue on into other sentences. This kind of sentence confuses people and disturbs the flow of what you are writing about. As Julie has stated, we use run on sentences when we speak and our audience are able to understand. However, when we write, we cannot use run on sentences as we learn to look for punctuation. Because of these reasons, we should endeavour to not use run ons.
Today we read about run on sentences and got some laughs. I had to do a topic but couldnt finish.
Run on sentences are two or more sentences combined without the proper punctuations. They are often confuse the reader and interrupt flow. Without the proper use of punctuations, readers naturally want to correct the writing that they read. So instead of focusing on the writing, they naturally focus on errors.
Today, we read and practised the three stages of writing. It was good that we practised them because it would lead to perfection.
Detecting a run on sentence can be quite difficult, especially since it is common in today's conversations. They can confuse a reader and may have a dramatic effect on the message you are trying to convey. Run ons are commonly used in conversations and instictively accepted and understoob. However, in writing, they are more apparent. Todays activity was very refreshing and provided a good amount of practice which I definitely need.
I like how you started that it may have a dramatic effect on the reader, should they misunderstand what you are trying to relay. They may interpret the topic totally different causing the wrong information to be believed, travel, and maybe how they may retaliate towards it may be wrong.
Well explained Naomi, yes run on sentences are accepted in speaking but definitely not in writing. Today's review did help remind us of the common mistakes made in drafts.
I agree with you Justin. It is different when we are having a conversation with someone compared to writing. We need to be as clear as possible when writing.
We use run on sentences when we speak but when it comes to writing it is a completely different story. We should avoid run on sentences because it could cause confusion to the readers. Run on sentences is also indirect. It does not clearly state what the writer is trying to explain.

Too many pauses, even in speech, can get just as confusing. Oh, I'm just kidding Abby! But sitting with you today was quite a challenge. Holding in a laugh is something I should note as a weakness.
We should avoid run on sentences because continuing to write without any period to end a sentence will definitely make a reader clueless. It will be hard to understand. Our reading will be off not knowing where to end and begin again.
Oh, and today's activity was enjoyable. Other than that, We went through the three stage process; exploring and brainstorming, finding the thesis, and than outlining and recursiving to making a well written essay.
Run on sentences are really hard to detect. Sometimes we don't notice that we are using run on sentences in our essay because we use everyday in regular conversations. It is very important that we stay away from run on sentences. I know I use run on sentences a lot.
Run on sentences can be very confusing. Whenever we are writing a paper we should learn to simplify our sentences. We do not need overload the reader with a lot of information in just one sentence. If we truly want to provide a lot of information, we should break it down to different sentences. In this way the reader will not be confused and will be on pace with the material being read. I was not able to participate in today's activity due to an emergency in the family.
