Reflection - Common Mistakes in Writing - Sec. 7 - March 6

  1. This link is really useful for my future essays. I think so, because it clears some uncertainty. Today, I really liked learning the different ways to present my thesis. I found it very informative and it helped me make my theses more creative.

  2. The resource was very useful. I will be looking into this link in my future essays because I would love to have that in my back pocket. Today's activities were very entertaining. It was interesting learning about the different methods of writing conclusions and introductions. No doubt I will take advantage of those methods in the future.

    3. I will too. I saw that link before but I forgot about it. It turns out, it is an essential part of stage 3: editing. I will keep it in mind when I write in the future. I wish I can master the comma's use. It is my biggest challenge.
      Yes, we can take advantage of what we learned in class. The possibilities that those tools offer are endless because I am assuming that the introduction does not have to be contained within one style of thesis only. I hope that elements can be mixed.

  3. I thought that all the things in the list was really helpful and I can really use it in future writing. I really didn't know most of what was on the link that's why. In today's class we went over introduction and conclusion. I thought it was really difficult writing a good introduction, but with what we learned it was a bit easier.

    1. We have to use that guide for punctuation, grammar, and mechanics. This is part of stage 3 in the writing process worksheet. This guide summarizes the most common mistakes. I make those mistakes, and I will benefit from this guide next time I write an essay.

  5. The resource provided in the URL is very useful. It helps with correcting common grammatical mistakes. I will be more mindful and alert about these common mistakes when writing. The discussion in class really helps in tying essays together. I hope this will improve my writing for introductions and conclusions.

    I loved learning the many ways of presenting our thesis and the types of it. And how we can be able to get our readers hooked on. I never knew that there were different ways to presenting your thesis, this was very mind blowing!

  7. Common mistakes in writing is rushing the assignment and not re-reading what you wrote. In today's class we learned more about essays. It was good information and I found out make sure you have a solid introduction to your essay.

  10. The resource is very useful because you don't often recognize those as mistakes. I thought some of them were actually right. Today's activity was also very helpful because I often have a hard time starting off my essays with an introduction that will get you hooked.

  11. The link that was provided above was very helpful for me and for those who seem to be confused with the different words that are used. I found today's class discussion about the different kinds of thesis introductory paragraphs very helpful. I did not know that there different kinds and I hope to use some of them in the near future.

  12. Today's reading was very helpful for me because I needed to understand more of how writing a good essay. It hope I could write better in the future. Learning how to write a clear and simple essay is great for so I can learn from the bottom until I could actually write a perfect essay.

  14. I find very useful this guide for correct punctuation, grammar, and mechanics. I tend to abuse the commas and I do not use enough the hyphen for two word adjectives.
    I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of theses. Depending on what is your goal, you can choose the statement to be direct, reflect background, definition, quote, shock, and question with a definition. I would use a shocking theses if I wanted to draw attention on a topic that is non-controversial, contains data and statistics, in other words, that is plain. I would present the background on a topic that is not very well known. In an expository essay, I would use definitions, question and definition, and direct statement of the thesis. I will use quotation to reinforce the topic sentence.
