  1. An argumentative essay holds both sides of an issue however, the writer puts more assertion to one side of which he believes is more correct. The essay contains reasons, facts, principles, and a conclusion. The writer persuades the readers to agree with him. Although the topic I choose is not in the essay, I like to pick Security cameras & Privacy for my essay.

  2. An argumentative essay presents an issue by stating both pros and cons, with emphasis on whichever the writer is in favor of. Argumentative essays are written clearly and with the goal of convincing an audience with opposite views to adopt the views and opinion(s) of the author. This type of essay should be specific, with substantial supporting details for the main topic.

  4. An argumentative essay consists of two sides of a topic, while emphasising the side that the writer supports the most. When writing argumentative essays, it is essential to do proper research before writing out the essay. For my essay, I would choose the topic of using death row inmates as medical test subjects. I chose this topics as it is a very interesting topic.

    1. A good topic. However, I think it would be hard to do that as there will most probably always be people that will commit crimes in those crime free zones.

  8. An argumentative essay is a type of writing that requires researching on a topic and knowing both sides to the issue then picking one of it and presenting it with facts through supporting details. It is mainly arguing about your topic for the readers to believe what point you are trying to make. The topic I would chose is Drivers over 70 years old must pass a test for a driver's license.

  9. An Argumentative essay is a pro's and con's essay. You choose a topic and argue on why or why it isn't important. You use your essay to win your reader over. For example say you are going on strike because you think the campus stores should lower their prices because college kids are on low budget income or no income at all. You would give supporting facts on why the prices are too expensive and what the campus can do to change it. Choosing a topic for an argumentative essay for me would be: Creating Crime free zones in very active public places. How? for example say you commit a crime in tumon, the charges against you should be higher because you could possibly harm many people around you. The same for in schools because it is very important to create crime free zones so hopefully there will be less crime.

  10. An argumentative essay is just that...an argument between information! In order to write such an essay, one must gather information from reliable sources. You must gather information from both the offensive and defensive side. From there, your reader will have a clear understanding of your message and be able make their own analysis.

  11. You want your essay to be clear to your readers. To have supporting sentences help readers understand the topic you contributed. Argumentative is to agree or to disagree. Like weighing in the pros and cons that revolve around your topic. Focus on the topic sentence and you'll distribute a good essay.

  12. In an argumentative essay the writer needs to pick a side and a point then stick to it when writing. The argument of the writer should challenge the points of other writers. I think argumentative essays should be fairly easy because each paragraph can be each of your arguing points.

    1. Yes! Sticking to a side! It would be very confusing should the writer "accidentally" switch sides in the midst of the essay.

  13. An argumentative essay is an essay consisting of a valued opinion, and throughout the essay, is supported by experience, research, and proven facts. In this form of essay, the writer is stating something they wish others to believe in. In doing so, they must present information they have come across that is hard to counteract upon. In other words, this is a piece of work that would probably be present in a debate.

The topic of my choice is "Every state should enact a divorce counseling law that
    requires married couples to go
through counseling before being granted a divorce."
because I have a personal account towards "marriage", especially within the church. To me, this is a way in which the government can show some kind of salute to the church, being that our island is well revolved around our faith.

Today's overall discussion was no less than any other discussion held. it was well-informative and I believe that it was thorough. Reviewing the three main, basin parts of an essay was extremely handy. My question though -- does the quality of the paper hinder should we have a missing link from the three basic parts?

But, having more solid support is always best compared to lack of support towards a topic.

    1. I agree with this topic 100%! The divorce rate in the united states is very high.

    2. Divorce is very common in the United States. It should be considered a lifetime commitment other than a contract. Marriage counseling will be an effective way for couples to realize how valuable marriage really is.

  14. An Argumentative essay is an essay where you go in depth about a topic and tell people your side of the story for the topic. It is where you tell the good and the bad side of the topic. You also pick a side and tell the readers why you chose the side of the topic or story. This type of essay contains evidence and clear thoughts on why you are arguing the topic.

    1. I agree, you must have a clear thought on your evidence to make your reader understand what you are talking about.

    2. I like how you indicated "clear thoughts" because it IS important for the reader to completely, without a problem, understand your opinion,

    3. Having a clear thought prevents you from being biased as a writer. Arguing a topic is not about opinion. It is based on facts and experience.

  15. An argumentative essay is an essay that presents pros and cons. The purpose to an argumentative essay is to convince the reader with the views and opinions focused on the author. 16. Argumentative essay highlights the topic sentence by providing support that is persuasive and informative. As the writer, you need to be able to convince the reader with a strong validiction stated in each of the support. The topic I would choose is "birth control pill is more dangerous than the medical community has led to believe." This is something that I would like to research myself and find the pros and cons of the subject matter.

  17. An argumentative essay is an essay that involves an argument of two things that conflict with each other. You must research about the topic you chose inorder to have knowledge about the topic and to have a good argument that would make the reader curious. Also your essay must make the reader choose which side of the argument is the best and most agreeable.

  18. An Argumentative Essay chooses a side of an argument and argues both side inorder to persue readers to side with the writer. It is thorough in answering all the questions the readers might have.
