  1. I looked at the source and came to the conclusion that I make some of these common mistakes. Sometimes I have a hard time with my mistakes because they are careless. Today's class was really helpful because I always have a hard time putting together an intro for my essay. Now I have something or something called "recursive" to look back to when I have trouble writing an introduction.

  2. As i read through the 'common mistakes' I realized that what was listed, to me, are little, careless mistakes. I do have knowledge about these corrections due to past classes, but I can admit that I make these mistakes - sometimes often. However, the more common mistakes are easy to find within writing, but more in speech.
I should definitely reference this resource and recommend others to as well.

I found today to be extremely helpful. I thought to myself, though, that we should have covered this BEFORE our test. But i understand that the topic was more of a brain refresher. I loved the class...as always.

  3. I find the resource to be very useful because an essay without proper grammar and punctuations is very confusing and very difficult to understand. Knowing how to correct those common mistakes allows us to be better writers. In today's activity, we learned about introductions. The importance of having a strong introduction is the key for the reader to continue reading a composed essay or topic. It needs to catch the reader's attention right away whether it is a description, quote, shocking statement or a background information.

    1. Right. It's annoying to read an essay riddled with mistakes.

  4. Today, we compared developmental paragraphs and essay, and introductions. It was interesting to learn even though I have already read about them before because I have already forgot about them. The link given to us is a good resource in my opinion even though I feel like ive gone back in time. We also wrote some introductions for some thesis. As I did some research on my topic (Sexual Harrassment at work often goes unreported for practical reasons), I found out some messed up information. In additon, I checked the comments and just from one simple comment made several people start sniping at each other.

  5. I found this resource to be useful because it shows you the common mistakes people make in writing. As I was looking through this resource, I make some common mistakes shown on the resource but everyone knows that no one is perfect in writing. In addition, today's activity was interesting. I learned how to write a strong introductory. I also learned the different types of introductory methods.

    1. Good thing there's an introductory section to learn from since we tend to use the same kind of introductions,

    2. Yes, good thing that we got the opportunity to read examples of different kinds of introductory paragraphs. It helped us get an idea for our next essays.

    3. Yes, yes...NO ONE is perfect. But, dearest Abigail, our writing must be!

  6. Some common mistakes in writing are bad grammar, repetitive sentences, and dry sentences. Writing should have some way to attract the reader with clear points and correct use of grammar.

  7. Common mistakes of English grammer, mechanics, and punctuation is how all great writers start off. Every writer famous or not start off their writings with what they have in their head and it may not make sense or even have the right punctuation marks because they dont want to loose their thought. Today's activity was quite fun because it was my turn to say what i wrote for our activity. it was really fun sharing even though i didnt say all three styles that we had to do.

  8. Todays activity helped me understand more about writing an essay. In the past, I would have troubles while writing my essay. While writing an essay you would need an introduction paragraph. After writing your introduction you would need a development paragraph followed by a transition paragraph. Lastly, to end your essay properly you would need a conclusion.

  10. Yes this resource is very useful. An introductory and conclusion are two important factors when starting and finishing your essay. It shows how to create an interesting intro as well as what not to conclude in your conclusion.

    1. The conclusion is quite challenging for me and this standard really helps.

    2. I agree, the conclusion is difficult to write. You would need a strong thesis to write a good conclusion.

  11. Having common mistakes is actually a good thing. It makes you realize the error you made and how you can fix it. Similar to recursive, where you go back and fix it. When you take the initiative to write a better essay it improves your grammar, mechanics, and punctuation. To acknowlegde your mistakes gives you the motivation to better yourself in writing.

  12. As I read the common mistakes for writing, I found all of them to have one theme. The theme that they refer to are mistakes that deter readers from the writers work. It is often troubling to read an essay with many grammatical errors or even something with a lack of flow. I have found this article to be useful especially the selection of word choice. In today's class, we learned the different types of introductory paragraphs. I have found this useful for starting paragraphs in an essay.

  13. Today's activity was idealistic. I am glad we got to read examples of introductory paragraphs for essays. I was not so accustomed of using all 7 methods. However I am glad that we had the chance to write exercises on at least three different types. The link to common mistakes is a great reference to get used to. I usually make those errors in writing. It is a great guide to avoid my common mistakes.

  14. I was not aware of the different types of method for writing an introductory as well, but it surely adds an extra ingredient to anybody's writing.
