  1. I was well prepared for this essay Test 1. I used the steps we learned in class to make my essay complete and correct according to the type of essay. I am also ready for the next test which is the narrative essay. I just need a little more guidance from class on how to specifically write one. I enjoyed writing this essay and I think I learned a little for more in depth descriptive essays.

    1. It was great having to take a test home! I guess everyone in the class had the time to correct their mistakes and revise their work to make it more proficient.

    2. I have the feeling that everyone was well prepared. It was certainly useful to learn the steps in class. This type of essay, along with the narrative one, seem the least complex. I am sure we will have far more practice in writing before we test on the next one.

  2. The writing process was a big help in making sure I was prepared for my take home essay. It really helped me organize and gather information more efficiently. Sure it was a challenge to write the essay, but the process made it way easier on me. Some strategies I used was free writing, outlining and other useful strategies. Overall, it was a great experience and I look more forward in doing these essays now.

    2. I used the same steps to guide me in the writing of the essay. It does help a lot to construct a well written paragraph and essay. For the body of the essay I used the outlining but for the thesis and conclusion, I used a flow chart and the bubbling, respectively. I find very useful to interchangeably use these tools as needed.

    3. I used the same steps, because it really does help. Nice presentation today.

  3. I liked test one of the essay because it was a take home test. Some people do not work well under pressure and i am one of them. I liked the idea of the take home test because it gives the student a good amount of time to complete the test at home. I feel that practicing and coming to school will make a student do well in anything.

    1. I loved it! It gave us all the opportunity to take our time to think and write about our topic.

    2. I agree with you Barry: attendance to class is a must if you want to succeed. I also love the idea of taking my time for writing and I am still not prepared to perform in such time restriction. It took me a while to write this essay at home since a had to go back and forth, many times, to reorganize the thoughts. Dr. Rivera is well aware of this and helps us by letting us take the test at home.

    3. I don't like the pressure of on the spot exams too. So this take home test was really great.

    4. I agree with you. I never liked the idea of writing in class because it makes me feel pressure and I wont be able to concentrate good.

    5. I have to agree with you. Doing the take home test was very difficult because there was only a certain time frame to write it in and once you wrote it down it wasn't as if we could just back space and edit.

    6. I definitely agree with you. I can say I am one of those people who don't work well under pressure, too.

    7. I agree with you. It was a great experience as well.

  4. I am very satisfied with my improvement in writing. I feel like Betsy Jackson. At first, she wrote a series of random ideas about her wishes to be a cop, to enforce traffic laws. Then she organized those ideas to finally, present a very structured, edited essay. Following those steps makes all the difference in how you communicate your thoughts. I am really enjoying this process of mastering the steps. I think I am "walking" but I want in the near future to be able to "run".
I feel that I was prepared for this test. I listened while in class to the lectures and I clarified if something was not clear. I left the classroom with no doubts regarding the material we covered. I think that further preparation with be comprised of simply, more practice. The more you write ( following the 3 stages), the better you become in conveying your topic.

    2. True! Having to revise my essay, was one of the hardest part because I had to proof read my work over and over again and make sure that my reader would be able to understand what I am trying to write.

    3. Very well put with the "walking" comparison and I would agree that I feel the same way.

    5. The in class essays are always so difficult with being nervous, having anxiety, being worried about the time you have left and making sure you have a good essay to turn in. Anyways at least you turned in something to get a grade.

  6. Sadly, I was not prepared for Test #1. I thought take home test was to be taken home today and due on Thursday, March 04, 2014. Next test, I will finish my essay two days prior to the due date so I be well prepared and organized for the take home test. Today's activity, however, was helpful. I got to hear everybody's thesis and their feedback on how the writing process helped them.

  10. Today's take home test wasn't so difficult to do because of the writing process worksheet. The writing process worksheet helped me gather and organize my thoughts and ideas. I think the writing process will help make writinng essays much easier. It helped me prepare for the test more. Hopefully this will help me improve on writing more clear and strongly structured essays.

  11. Although I did the take home test, I wasn't at all prepared because I procrastinated. I underestimated how easy it would be. I did my essay last minute so I don't think it was my best work because it was rushed. However, the writing process really helped structure my essay. It helped me gather all my thoughts and ideas into writing my essay.

  12. I am glad I did the take home test because it was much easier. I used the three stages of writing to help me finish my essay #1 test with a breeze. I was so use to doing my work last minute, but with the help of the three stages of writing, I was able to break my essay down throughout the days I worked on it to finish before I had to present it to my professor. I am thankful for the help.
