Taking test #4 was a good way to explore another type of essay with a little bit of research. I was a little prepared because I chose a topic that was best for me. The next time i will have more peer review to make my essay a really good one.
ReplyDeleteYou are right: peer reviews are a very important filter of imperfections. They do help in the process of achieving the best results. I always have at least my husband critique the essays. Another set of eyes can make a difference. It is like when you are going out to an important event, and you ask the members of your household "how do I look?" They can maybe straighten your collar, wipe the lint from your back....
DeleteTaking the test #4 in class was fun. I didn't understand it at first, but as I took the in class test, I was able to understand it. It helped me focus more on the topic that I chose but, I wasn't able to back it up with resources. But what I learned today I hope will help later on in the future. Next time, I'll make sure I ask for the directions and follow it.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely! Prepare ahead regardless of where you take the test. The whole point of this essay was the evidence you gather from research to prove your point. Clarify what is expected of you in order to be able to provide.
DeleteTest #4 was pretty straightforward. With extensive research on my topic, I felt more prepared to write this argumentative essay. I stated a lot of facts and evidence to make my argument and this essay more credible. The peer review helped me to make my essay more understandable to the readers.
ReplyDeleteDidn't you write "for" counseling prior to divorce? I learned from it. Very good selection of topic.
DeleteAlthough I was not able to make it to class on-time for Test #4, the argumentative was by far the most difficult of the essays we have written. I am still having difficulties writing the works cited page. I would say that I was not prepared as I could have been because I didn't even wake up to make it to class today. I will ask for a better work schedule so I have time to write my essay better, get a good night's sleep, and wake up refreshed in the morning to present my essay.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good plan for the future. I am glad you learned from this. By the way, I also find "work cited" the most challenging phase of these two last essays. I am sure practice will "make perfect."
DeleteI wish classmates took advantage of this blog. This is a tool for learning from each other. I am wondering why so few students showed up today to the test? These two last essays (expository and argumentative) are used in other classes "for writing papers". I am glad I was able to apply some of these skills already, in other classes. For example, for a presentation I had I used the expository essay and turned out appropriate. Test #4 was actually entertaining. I had to do a lot of research in order to justify my point of view. I prepared for this, a little more than expected. I researched more in detail about the essay itself. I needed to do this since I felt unsure about some things. Once I was comfortable with all the information I gathered, I proceeded to the next stages.
ReplyDeleteI already started brainstorming and researching for the next test, since I want to write one of the above mentioned essays. I do not want to run again into the situation that the topic I chose cannot be supported with my view.
Personally I hate argumentative essays. Although I believe my essay is something interesting to read about, it took me awhile to gather up all the information about my topic that I wrote about. Test #4 was the hardest so far and luckily the last until the final exam. I am confident th.at it was greatly written on my behalf. I just like to be positive
