Reflection -Test #3 - Sec. 7 - April 17

Discuss your thoughts on taking Test #3. Were you prepared for it? If so, what strategies did you use as part of your preparation? If you were not prepared for it, what will you do next time to ensure that you do well on the test?

  1. Taking the test three involved a little research. You really have to find a good source to get the best information about your topic. I was prepared a little and also tried to my best on the take it home test. On the next test i will do more research and get more information about my topic.

    1. I should've done a take home test like you did. From your experience of the test, it was much easier for you to write than taking it from the top of your head like the in class.

    2. I agree with you. However, the only difference with test number three was that it needed research. Other than that every thing else is like the rest of the essays we did for the past few months.

    3. Sounds reasonable to me. You have to do more research than what you did now, for the next test. It requires to present two sides on the topic. It is more complex because of the development of the thesis and because the conclusion has to point at "something" after two sides were presented.

  2. I would have to say that I was not quite prepared for test #3 to be honest, I didn't know about it until class on Tuesday. Next time, I will be checking my calendar of events daily and start writing out portion by portion and doing little research each day to ensure a well done paper for Test 4. I know that it will require more research and I hope the link I used for Test 3 was good enough.

    1. I think I should use my calendar of events more often as well. If I were to be consistent with it, I would've gotten a better grade than I think I got on this test.

    3. I wish you well for the next test. Although, I surely not ready myself, but something is better than nothing.

    4. That was close! Tuesday to Thursday to prepare for the test is really short time for me. I am glad to hear that you will take more time to prepare for test 4. That way, you can make sure that sources you choose for your writing are reputable. You will feel more certain about your performance.

  3. I think that I prepared properly for THIS test. I had an idea what my thesis was going to be so I researched in order to support it with data. For the next text, I will have to prepare far more since it will be a somewhat different and unfamiliar format; I will have to clarify possibilities regarding "controversy". I will take my time to formulate a thesis and from there, ask all the questions. I already chose a topic, but I am still not sure what do I want to convey! It is extremely important to know exactly "where do you want to take it", because that is how we will be guided to choose "support". It is all in the "presentation of evidence", like in court. Both sides try to convince the jurors (readers), but the jury decides what was prevailing (message that was heard). We have to be the "defense attorney" , "the prosecutor", and jury for our next assignment.

    1. I really liked your over-the-top experience reflection about your essay. I think it helped me a little bit more to get an understanding of what I should write for my in class test.

  4. I did the in class test and it taught me to use what was in my brain from my knowledge of animals. My topic was 'if I were to be an animal, what would I be and why.' I watched many animal documentaries. Animals fascinate me and so I wrote about this topic and I was well prepared.

    1. That is a great topic. Good thing you watch many animal documentaries because it would surely help you with the test.

    2. So....What animal would you be? I think I'd be a cockroach.

    3. I am glad that my reflection on the essay helped you a little to understand what you should write for your test. Animals are an excellent topic since you have previous knowledge about them.

  5. Todays test was a relief because I did the take home test. Honestly, I thought the expository essay would be harder then the others we did, but it was alright. It was just like the rest of the essays we did in class and the take home test.

    1. I think taking the take home test is really good because you can always edit and make the correction you need. I also agree that expository essay was okay with a little of research.

  6. Test # 3 was pretty alright I guess. I did the in class test, like I always do. I feel like I work and write better when I am under pressure. So I guess I was prepared because I chose to do that.

    1. I have to mention the smile I have on my face now; I do some things much better under pressure; it is the challenge that motivates you.

    2. At least you took the test. I took test 2 in class and I did ok, but we all should take advantage on taking the test home instead in class.

  7. I think I did well in this test. There isn't much strategy to make this essay just knowing your information, but if you do not know anything about a topic thats when doing research is crucial to making this essay work.

  8. I think I was really prepared for this test. I chose an interesting topic so that when I write about it I wouldn't get bored. My topic was why some teens join gangs. I learned a lot about this topic through my research. I used cause and effect for this expository essay. I had a hard time on classifying some causes and effects because they can kind of be the same thing sometimes.

    1. You choose a good topic. Everyone can relate to it and give some sort of feed back. Good job on the preparation.

  9. It was pretty good experience writing this essay. I found how time consuming these essays can be. I was well prepared because of the writing process which is always helpful. Expository essays take a deal out of your brain because you have to constantly think and provide facts.
