  1. Test 2 was not as easy as I thought. Writing a "story" while still trying to keep in mind the formats of an essay was a challenge because when you think of story, you mainly think of merely making sure it has and follows Aristotle's plot structure basically. But mine was just a simple paper of experience.

Today's class was fun, of course. I admired everyone's choice topics!

    1. I agree that Test #2 was a great challenge. I was manipulated of writing a story in an essay format. I had to read more than a couple of examples which ate up my time.

    2. Test 2 was a challenge because I did not know how to write one. and when you saw my paper you had a reaction like I did it wrong but its okay because i learn from my mistakes.

    3. You should try freewriting and just write freely first without thinking on how the format of an essay should be. Then after gathering all your information on paper, that is when you can think and organize it refering to the format.

    4. I agree. Writing this essay was not as easy as I thought too. But free writing help me get my information straight.

    5. We all have our ways of telling a story. It does not have to be something extraordinary. Making it simple is a big help for everyone so that it is easier to understand.

    6. Absolutely! We all learn from our mistakes :)

    7. Although test 2 was really pretty challenging, it was a great experience.

    8. I agree test 2 was little difficult for me.

  2. Test 2 was a little bit difficult to write because i was not sure on how to write a narrative essay. I know narrative essays are based on stories so i did not know how to included the formats of an essay and tell a story at the same time. Although, i got my paper done and it was a good experience. Next time, i will ensure that i will not procrastinate because i tend to do it every time we have the take home test.

Today's class was fun. I enjoyed listening to the different topics shared today.

    1. It was fun hearing others' topics of their essays. Embarrassing as it is sharing our personal experiences, it was nice to hear my classmates' as well.

    2. Me too I like to procrastinate on my take home test. It was a great experience to write a story you either lived in or experienced.

    3. Procrastination is one thing many students tend to do. If we could all avoid it then working on our assignments won't be that stressing. I kind of typed my final paper last minute that is why I was late for class.

    4. I admire how you are determined to improve, Abby.

    5. I should also stop procrastinating as well.

  3. I was prepared for Test #2. I read a few narrative essays online and got a few ideas of how to write one. I usually do not go by the textbook. The essays are usually too short in the book.

Today's class activity enlightened me. As I heard others' thesis, I started getting ideas for what to write about. I felt as if my thesis was not as supportive as I thought it was.

    1. I think I will try what you did about reading examples on line and getting ideas from it. Yeah the book gives good topics but its to short to really get a good idea of how to write some essays.

    2. It is great to be prepared and, it surely is a great idea to find sources online to help you. I will try it out as well for the next test.

    3. I found myself needing multiple resources just as well. I referenced online and some magazines. Magazines are pretty good because they usually have an essay on certain people or topics that are not too lengthy. You will be exposed to the many different types of essays and find a style most comfortable for you.

    4. Doesn't it feel better when you're prepared for it?

    5. It is always good to be prepared. Good job!

  4. Test 2 was easy to write because I wrote about a journey that couldn't be forgotten. Free writing really helped me prepare for this essay because I had so much thoughts to write down about my unforgettable journey. However, it was a little difficult to summarize a huge chapter of my life.

Today's class was fun. I enjoyed sharing and listening to other peoples topics.

    1. Free writing helped me too because I had lot of things to tell and say. And yes how could you summarize your life in just two - three pages.

    2. Free writing helped me as well. I just had to organize all the information in end.

    3. It IS difficult to summarize your life, especially if it had a great impact in general. If I were to write about dance in my life, it would definitely maximize a novel. Just like soccer for you Dyl.

    4. That's the best thing about writing a narrative essay, sharing memories with others.

      Delete
    5. A narrative essay is sometimes difficult to cut short. There are many events that happen. Many minor details should be removed that may be irrelevant to the story. I agree that sharing and listening to other persons' topic are interesting.

  5. Test 2 was a little harder then the first test because it was a narrative essay. I am not good at writing stories and making things up. I was more prepared this test then I was last time because I wrote little by little everyday and finished everything the night before. I use the free writing strategy because it is easier for me to use and I get more ideas out of writing what comes to mind. Today's class was fun. I heard a lot of different topics and thesis that makes me think about their essays.

    1. I like how you take your time writing little by little, day by day. That is surely one way to prepare yourself for a well written essay.

    2. I agree. Test 2 was a little harder than the first one because the topic i chose was about my grandma's funeral. It made me think of her and miss her more but I got it done.

    3. It is always good to start ahead of time to be able to organize your thoughts better.

    4. That did not work out for me. I think it was primarily because the more I went back to continue, I ended up with more ideas until my essay resembled a novel. I ended up rewriting the entire thing.

    5. Test #2 was much more difficult than the first. I am not so well at setting time order for stories. I tend to mix events up. I am glad we got the opportunity to practice.

  6. I had fun with test # 2 because it be can a part of writing your own experience in life and making it into a story. I was prepared to do it, but not in time to turn it in. The strategies I used for this essay was Outlining and then Freewriting.

Although I was late coming to class for today's activity, I still had to talk about my essay to the rest of our classmates, and it was great because after I was done, I could leave having more time to study for my next class Test.

    1. I agree. Writing an essay is fun if you have experience with it already. You do not even have to think hard about what to write. You just have to keep it organized.

    2. Telling a story is something we can all be creative about especially if we are writing base on experience.

    3. Keeping it organized is key...you are absolutely right Ed.

  7. Test 2 was not an easy task for me because I chose to write about my grandma's funeral. There was a lot to write about but I had to organize my essay. Writing about my grandma has a positive outcome because I can think back on how her funeral was.

I already knew I was going to write about my grandma's memorable funeral. I used Outlining and Free-Write for my essay.

    1. Like I mentioned in my response to Dylan, summarizing a part if your life is definitely a challenge because we have a great urge to go way into detail.

    2. I agree. Two pages is too short to write even a small portion of our life or our love ones for that matter.

  8. Test 2 was pretty interesting to write because it felt like we were writing a story. I felt better about this test than I did with the last one. I found stage one and two helpful because it helped me get all my ideas together. I also felt that I was more prepared for this test. I felt more prepared because it made me feel more comfortable about producing the essay. Today's activity was pretty fun. I liked hearing peoples topics for test 2 because it gave me ideas on how everyone did.

    1. Unlike you, I was not completely prepared. I am never completely prepared for narratives because there is so much to say. I'd rather be given topics that aren't related than to suffer being indecisive.

  9. Writing a narrative essay was a real brain stretcher. Telling a story in detail was more challenging than I expected. Making a thesis statement for the whole essay was also difficult. For me 2 pages felt so short. At one point I got carried away in telling my story once I got the hang of it.

I was prepared for the essay. I was not expecting it to be easy. Next time I will put more time into it so I can produce a better essay. Today's activity was interesting because hearing other people's topics and what they have learned is always enjoyable. We all learn something from every one.

  10. Test 2 presented similar challenges to previous essays. Topic choices has a great impact on your ability to produce a good essay. Writing an essay with reference to myself, people or events I am familiar with is a little easier. Although easier, it was not easy to complete the narrative essay. I was prepared for this essay, however, I was not completed satisfied with the final product.

Our daily class activities are always fun and enjoyable. Sharing our ideas as a class allows us to socialize in a manner that is conducive to learning basic English...communication.
