An expository essay is basically an essay written on something that was investigated, argued, but shows facts. Its purpose is to give your audience a good understanding of something.
ReplyDeleteI think this is a good brief summary of what an expository essay is.
DeleteI like the words "argued with facts". That is exactly the purpose of it.
DeleteVery straight to the point definition. Clear and concise.
DeleteThere is a lot of definition on expository eassy and that is one of them.
DeleteGood point
DeleteExpository essays use facts, not opinions, for supporting the thesis. They require to evaluate, investigate or research in order to compose. These facts can be logical, statistical or anecdotal.
ReplyDeleteFirst paragraph should be the clearly defined thesis statement.
Body of essay should consist of paragraphs containing one clear, general idea each, while connected to the thesis stated in first paragraph. Usually three paragraphs in the body will suffice.
Conclusion should either restate or readdress the thesis depending of the evidence provided in the body ( previous 3 paragraphs). This closing statement is the one that will leave the most immediate impression on the reader. Do not bring up new ideas into the conclusion. This paragraph has to be logical and effective.
I have two favorite topics on my mind:
Why Parents Are Sometimes Strict: I think it is a very important and always relevant topic to discuss. Being a parent myself, being a daughter, and knowing many people with children, makes me realize minors do not understand the reasons why parents set rules and boundaries.
Non-material Things That Make Me happy: another always relevant topic because if nothing else, you can always find happiness in things that you don't need money for. This world is full of poverty but people still manage to be happy.
Although, I think she was expecting a short summary. This is outstanding report of what an expository essay is. Good job Mrs. Angelica.
DeleteWow, this is a very thorough explanation of an expository essay. Two thumbs for accuracy and well explanatory. And the topic would be very interesting to read about. It would help me understand why my parents are strict on me!! hehehehe..
DeleteI like the info about the Expository essay. I think English is your subject.
DeleteI like how you got majority of the details into this quick summary, its like I'm reading from a book.
DeleteAn expository essay is used for showing facts about something that has been studied. It shows evidence support that are factual or anecdotal. It shows a complete argument, such as a debate or meeting. If I were to choose a topic, it would be "If you were to be an animal, which would you be and why." I choose this topic because there would be so much for me to say about it.
ReplyDeleteInteresting topic. It got me wondering which animal I would be. hehehe... great choice of a topic. Its definitely an attention grabber.
DeleteGood info about expository essay. That is a good topic to write about.
DeleteGreat description and I completely agree.
DeleteI like your topic. I think it's very interesting to learn about what animal would people like to be. I couldn't make up my mind about which one so I cannot write about it. I am sure this is going to be an entertaining essay regardless of the serious format of the expository essay.
ReplyDeleteInspiration is everywhere. hehehe... i'm sure you'll find something that'll inspire you of a great topic.
DeleteAn expository essay is based on arguments backed up by facts, evidence and thorough researches and evaluation. It is written and used to argue your point of view. For my topic, I would write about "Why Is It Important To Finish Your Education." I choose this topic because I know how important it is and how it can help you in the future.
ReplyDeleteI thought your explanation was well put. That is also a good topic because education is the key to success
DeleteExpository is when the essay that has a cause and effect. The reader would have to find out what happen in the essay and why it happen.
ReplyDeleteYes cause and effect play a major role
DeleteGood definition of a expository essay and yes the readers would have to have insight of the topic or do research.
DeleteI think an expository essay is pretty much like a research paper. You pick a topic and investigate on it and you explain it the best way you can. If I had to pick a topic I'd choose Explain why parents are sometimes strict. I'd choose that because my parents were strict with me and I feel like I kind of know why they were.
ReplyDeleteYes pick a topic that you can relate too. Cause and Effect if you do something bad. Your parents were once in our shoes.
DeleteVery true.
DeleteExpository essay I would say is explaining an idea. You can explain your idea through comparison and contrast or cause and effect. Keep it simple and clear with good transitions and try to make every idea relate back to the topic of the essay. The topic I would chose is why students smoke cigarettes and skip school, because both are easily debatable topics.
ReplyDeleteAn expository essay is something the writer will explaining. There are different ways to write but I like to do a comparison and contrast essay. My topic i would choose is the why are parent strict sometimes? I feel that is a topic that will come with ease with me, because I deal with strict parent.
ReplyDeleteGreat point.
DeleteExpository essays are all about detail. You are going in depth in your writing. Basically, you are putting your writing skills to the test. I would do the topic " If you had to be an animal which would you be and why?" I would choose that topic because there are a number of animals that I can choose from. It would be fun and challenging at the same time.
ReplyDeleteDetails are very important, but the details should be facts. That topic you brought up about being an animal is very interesting though.
DeleteAn expository essay consists of hard facts rather than opinions. The purpose of an expository essay is to explain a topic in a logical and straightforward manner. The structure of an expository essay includes an introductory paragraph, three evidentiary body paragraphs and a conclusion; in all the entire essay is usually five paragraphs long. The expository topic that seems to interest me would be "Explain why getting a driver’s license is an important event in the lives of many
ReplyDeleteteenagers?" I would write the essay in a cause and effect format.
thats a great topic it would get your readers attention especially the teens.
