  1. A descriptive essay is and explanation of what something or an experience is or how it looks or feels. A descriptive essay is about emotions and feelings. I would choose either a famous historical person or happy moments. I chose these because they have a broad range of descriptions. That could allow me to fully express my descriptive essay assignment.

    1. "Happy moments" is an excellent topic because it is very personal (no room for contradiction), and because it is something we have all experienced (we identify with). As a writer, you have the possibility to describe something that you are very familiar with.

    2. I too agree with "Happy moments" topic to write about. Being happy is one of the greatest emotions to express. I think I would write a lot of things about that topic.

    3. I like the idea of being able to "fully express" yourself with the assignment, because it is a descriptive essay so putting more detail as you can couldn't hurt. Organization does help a lot too though.

  2. A descriptive essay is an essay that describes something; a person, place, object, etc. It allows you to be able to visualize something with its description. I would choose to write about a place either my house or hometown. I chose these because I can describe more with these two topics and be able to create mental picture for the reader.

    1. From your essay "All About Me", I know how much you miss Palau, your hometown, family and friends. I think it is a very good idea to write about your home/hometown to get, in far more detail, a picture of where you come from.
I am sure you have plenty to say about it.

  3. Descriptive essay is "painting with words". The reader should be able to imagine the experience you've had or to understand how certain objects, events, moments were perceived by the writer. To accomplish this, you have to use words that relate to the topic and be creative in their use. Rich vocabulary is having more colors available for "painting the picture".
I can see again the postcards' exercises extracting ideas for descriptive essays. Excellent way to dig into the creativity wells of ours.
I would chose a topic that right away creates an opinion in me: food, lightening, study routine, falling in love, swimming.... Either one, I have had experience with and I could share my opinion, in writing.
Topics like places, personalities or events are too broad and don't evoke just one meaningful memory or feeling to describe.

    1. I think study routine is one of the good topic to write about. It's like creating a plan so it's too broad. And being a college student gives us more ideas on what to write on this topic.

It is done simply by describing something or even someone as if they are godlike symbol's and vise versa by maybe describing those symbols as ugly creatures of some sort. Readers like to be interested in what they read and something descriptive gives them exactly that.
